The internet forgot how to disagree. Heat travels; thought doesn’t. We built Equator.app because we wanted a place online where you could actually hear people think — and be heard thinking.
The idea
Equator takes one question and gathers short video answers around it — real faces, side by side, mapped directly onto a spectrum of viewpoints.
Instead of an endless comment section, every voice is placed on a visual Leanings map so you see where the whole room stands at a glance. No pile-ons, no anonymous accounts, and no algorithm driving outrage. Each clip is one real person, on camera, saying what they believe.
Together, they add up to something a feed never gives you: a true roundtable where you can take in every side of a discussion before adding yours.
You can watch quietly. When you’re ready, you can take the mic.
What we believe
Faces change behavior. People are kinder to a human than to a username. Video with a real face restores the accountability — and the warmth — that text stripped away.
Listening comes before speaking. On Equator you see every side of a question before you add yours. It turns out that changes what you say.
Disagreement is a feature. The goal was never agreement. It’s disagreement worth watching — civil, specific, and occasionally mind-changing.
Humans only. Every voice belongs to a real, identifiable person. No bots, no AI opinions — ever.
Culture needs guardrails. We follow our simple ±10% house rule: be 10% less offensive — and 10% harder to offend. It keeps the conversation honest without descending into noise.

Who’s behind it
Equator.app was founded by Bob Rosenschein (MIT), who previously built and took Answers.com public on NASDAQ. Answers.com helped hundreds of millions of people find objective facts. Equator tackles the harder half of the internet: the human questions with no single right answer — where clarity comes from hearing each other.
Our company name is Talk Don’t Shout, Inc. — and the mission is right there in the name.
